DAY 5-DECEMBER 24-TUESDAY MARKET

Today we took a trip to the Tuesday Market.  It's like a giant flea market that is open on Tuesdays.  We knew it would be an adventure.  Tony, the house manager, came and picked us up.  All of us in his 1985 Nissan pick up truck.  Porter got to ride shotgun with me, and Daddy and the boys were in the back.  As he drops us off at the market he says, "Watch your wallets and the kids."  What a way to start the adventure.

So what do they sell at the Tuesday market?

  • candy
  • underwear
  • illegal DVDs
  • fruit
  • socks
  • hot wheels
  • watches, jewelry, purses
  • zillions of remote controls
  • raw chicken
  • songbirds
  • clothes
  • lots more
It is just so unusual for us.  It's wall to wall people.  Every 3rd or 4th booth there is a loud speaker saying something in Spanish.  More chances for us to use our Spanish, but we do find 2 other Americans while we're there.  It goes on forever and ever.  There are whole families working each booth.  We see one boy that looks like my sister, Stephanie, sitting behind the table with his mom.  We were there about 2 hours and gave each kiddo $20 to spend and they couldn't even spend that.

One thing I love is the little candy stands.  You can get 10-12 gummy worms, or similar,  in a bag for 5 pesos, which is $0.38.  Just enough to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Dexter took a ton of pictures so I will let you see the fun.

Before we go exploring...doesn't look like Oak Park Mall.
